拉斐尔·德普1963年出生于委内瑞拉加拉加斯,目前在法国巴黎生活和工作。他在委内瑞拉学习艺术,并参加了许多在全国各地的博物馆和画廊举办的个人和集体展览,如:国家美术馆,加拉加斯当代艺术博物馆,阿拉瓜当代艺术博物馆,阿拉瓜艺术沙龙,马拉凯“Mario Abreu”当代艺术博物馆。多件作品被国家美术馆永久收藏。同时也参加了各种国际性展览,如在布达佩斯,巴黎,比利时,日内瓦,意大利和英国的展览等。他在其祖国委内瑞拉获得了许多杰出的奖项。他曾在阿拉瓜艺术沙龙获得“Premio Nacional de Escultura”奖,并在秘鲁的利马获得“Gran Premio de La Bienal de Bellas Artes”奖。从他作为艺术家的早期开始,拉菲尔·德普的作品就一直与环境保护和濒危动物物种保护息息相关。他创造了“生态动力主义”一词来形容他的作品,并持续发展出装置,雕刻,绘画,雕塑和素描等多种艺术样式。拉斐尔·德普最近的一个艺术项目是在联合国科教文组织巴黎所在地的关注全球变暖与河流污染的装置项目“RÉCHAUFFEMENT”。
